As reported on MLB.com this afternoon, the Chicago Cubs have traded starting pitcher Scott Feldman to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for pitchers Jake Arrieta and Pedro Strop. The Orioles also picked up catcher Steve Clevenger and quickly optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk.
Feldman is 7-6 this year with a 3.46 ERA. He is set to start Wednesday’s game against the Chicago White Sox. He has been in the league for nine seasons amassing a 46-50 record with a 4.66 ERA. Before joining the Cub, he spent all of his previous seasons with the Texas Rangers.
“He’s a proven veteran starting pitcher, and he should help stabilize our rotation in the second half of the season,” said Dan Duquette, executive vice-president of baseball operations for the O’s.
We are still left to wonder if the Orioles just got any better?
