Texas Rangers v Minnesota TwinsScott Diamond vs. Brandon MaurerBrandonMaurer

-Diamond is 0-1 in two starts vs. Seattle with a 4.61 ERA. Diamond is 0-1 with a 7.98 ERA in his last three starts.

-Shortstop Brendan Ryan is a career .241 hitter. He is hitting just .209 this year and he finished last season a .194 average. Yet he is 5-for-6 lifetime vs. Diamond.

-Kyle Seager is 2-for-7 with a pair of RBIs.

-Justin Smoak (who is day-to-day with an oblique injury) is 2-for-6 with a homer.

-Rookie Maurer has never faced the Twins. He is 2-7 with a 6.93 ERA in ten starts this season.

Seattle started the season with a lot of promise. Off-season moves brought in slugging outfielder Michael Morse and the powerful 1B/DH Kendrys Morales. They also moved the fences in at Safeco Field. So many had visions of the mid-1990’s Coors Field. Going into Thursday they had hit 58 homers, which is ninth most in the league. The Twins have hit 42 homers. Both teams have similar records.
