The New York Yankees who have done a marvelous job of playing with a shorthanded roster were looking forward to getting some of their big stars back on the field. Despite being able to celebrate 9 – 4 victory over the Tampa Bay rays on Friday night, the team suffered a further setback Friday when Curtis Granderson suffered a fracture to his left hand. Granderson is expected to miss the next four weeks of the regular season while recovering.
All told, New York has had a total of 13 players on the disabled list this season. Despite these injuries the Yankees have battled their way to the top of the American League East and currently lead the Boston Red Sox by 1.0 games.
