Mike Pelfrey vs. Jason Hammel
-Pelfrey is 2-0 in two career starts vs. the O’s with a 3.86 ERA.
-Nick Markakis is the only Oriole to take Pelfrey deep.
-Adam Jones is 3-for-6 lifetime against him
-Nate McLouth is 4-for-16.
-Hammel is 2-1 with a 2.93 ERA in five career starts against our Twins.
-Willingham is 5-for-14 against Hammel with a homer and three RBIs.
-Mauer has as also homer off of him.
-Morneau is 4-for-9 with all four hits being doubles. He also worked three walks against compared to one strikeout.
-Jamey Carroll is 6-for-15 with four walks
Vance Worley vs. Steve Johnson
-Worley has no record two career starts against Baltimore with a 3.27 ERA. Vance is also still winless as a Twin.
Markakis is 3-for-3 against Worley.
-Matt Wieters is 0-for-6.
-Adam Jones is 2-for-6 with three RBIs.
-No twin has ever faced Johnson. The Baltimore native did go 4-0 in 12 appearances (four starts) a season ago for the O’s with an ERA of 2.11 and 46 strikeouts compared to 18 base on balls in 38.1 innings of work.
Scott Diamond vs. Wei-Yin Chen
-Diamond gave five earned runs over six innings in his only start against the O’s but still managed to walk away with the win.
Markakis and Jones are both 2-for-3 against Diamond.
-Chen got the win in his only against Minnesota in which he lasted seven innings and struck out five.
-Brian Dozier, Mauer, Morneau, Plouffe and Willingham are all 1-for-3 against Chen.
-Plouffe and Willingham both have an RBI.
-Mauer has a walk.
-Morneau has two strikeouts.
While the Twins are still hovering around .500 the O’s are slugging away with Boston for the division early. It seems that Baltimore might be overachieving at this point. They do have loads of pitching throughout this organization. However, quantity is one thing but weather tested arms hold true thorough 162 game grind. They were are playoff team a year ago but their division was weaker in 2012. Soon the underachievers with rise and with that the division will tighten like a belt on Thanksgiving.
