Miami Marlins (4-15) vs Minnesota Twins (8-7)
Rickey Nolasco vs. Kevin Correia
-Nolasco has never faced the Twins before.
-Ryan Doumit has three hits all doubles, four strikeouts and a walk against Nolasco.
-Josh Willingham is 4-for-10 with four RBI’s and four strikeouts.
-Correia is 3-4 with a 7.06 ERA in 15 appearances against the Miami in his career. This is a Marlins team with not a lot hope however.
-Giancarlo Stanton, Austin Kearns and Miguel Olivo have all taken Correia deep. Kearns and Olivo are part-time players but don’t be surprised to see him in there against Kevin.
Jose Fernandez vs. Mike Pelfrey
-Fernandez is just 20 years old. He is raw but relentless. He will be interesting to see him face a professional hitter like Joe Mauer.
-Pelfrey is 1-8 in 17 appearances vs. the Marlins with a 5.20 ERA.
-Stanton is 8-for-17 with a pair of homers and three walks vs. Pelfrey. He apparently see’s him pretty well.
-Kearns and Greg Dobbs have also homered off of him.
The Marlins are led by 23-year old slugger Giancarlo Stanton. The right fielder has had a slow start to the season but he is a very dangerous hitter nonetheless. Twins pitching will need pitch to him carefully because he Killebrew kind of power.
Going into Monday’s action our Twins are riding a four-game win streak.
