bosoxThe Boston Red Sox defeated the New York Yankees in game two of the three game series on Wednesday night.  Boston rode a 7-1 lead into the 8th inning before the Yankees rallied for 3 when Vernon Well belted a long-ball to left field off Sox reliever Alfredo Aceves with two men on.  Boston closer Joel Hanrahan finished off the Yankees in the bottom of the 9th.

Baltimore dropped their second game to Tampa Bay who evened their record at 1-1.  Toronto is now 0-2 after a dismal offensive showing against the Indians.  Boston improved to 2-0, their first such start to a season since 1999, and are alone at the top of the AL East.
